Standards-Based Coding and Browser-Compatibility
Using established web standards is an underrated, yet crucial part of developing a website. These standards are defined by an international organization who has no commercial interest in various browsers well-being or market share and whose goal is to provide a way of coding a website which will look, feel and work the same regardless of the browser.

Speedy and Efficient
Websites that take a long time to load are irritating and can drive visitors and potential customers away. Regardless of how beautiful or informative your site is, if people leave before they even see it because it takes too long to load, it is irrelevant. Most of the sites that load slowly stem from a designer who does not fully understand the medium of the web and try to design a site the same way they would design a brochure. Have you ever seen a site where there are images for some or all of the text? Every seen a site where flash animations were used for the menus? These things all increase the loading time of the site and make it seem slow and unresponsive and, while the novelty of the animation effect in the menu will fade quickly, the annoyance of that loading time will not.
There are many techniques which I employ during development to ensure that your website will be load quickly and be responsive. Beyond some of the techniques previously mentioned, such as standards-based structure, I analyze the usefulness of all multimedia (images, flash, and so forth) and make sure that they are used only where they make sense and that the actual filesize of any multimedia I do use is optimized to be as small as possible without sacrificing the quality or effect. I also make use of various techniques which ensure that the number of calls made to the web server for each page load are minimized and that filesizes of all parts of the site are as small as possible.
Secure and Accessible
Security and accessiblity are two of the most frequently overlooked aspects of web development. Every year there are numerous news stories detailing how one website was hacked and had credit card data stolen or how another was temporarily rerouting to a spam site. SQL injection attacks, email injection attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks and all sorts of other nasty things need to be accounted for during the planning and development processes not after your site has already been comprimised. I make use of all applicable security practices to ensure that this doesn't happen to your site.
